The Perfect Golf Swing Tips To Become A Single-Figure Golfer
Welcome to Perfect Golf Swing Tips.com. On this site I’m going to share what I like to refer to as my perfect golf swing tips. Some of these tips deal with achieving that elusive perfect golf swing, some about reducing your handicap, and some about just enjoying the game more.
One of the greatest misconceptions among higher handicap golfers and beginners is that there is some mystical perfect golf swing secret that must be learned to become an accomplished golfer.
These same golfers also believe that single-figure players the have smooth, free-flowing perfect golf swing – with flawless techniques and that they strike the ball perfectly, right out of the middle of the sweet spot on the clubface, every single time. Obviously, none of these is true.
Perfect Golf Swing Tips – Average Is Usually More Than Good Enough

The good news is that, in most cases, a 9-handicapper is no better than average in most areas of the game. Contrary to what you may have thought, to become a single-figure golfer you do not need to be able to carry the ball 250 yards-plus through the air off the tee, you do not need to strike every iron shot purely and you do not need to be a magician around the greens and hole every putt you look at. A few simple yet effective golf swing tips will make all the difference.
Most golfers have the physical ability to play good golf and master a perfect golf swing. What usually prevents them from fulfilling their potential is insufficient self-belief, a lack of desire, an unwillingness to take lessons and to practice the skills learned, poor course management or simply not enough play. Single-figure players can appear in many different guises. Some are poor drivers and long-iron players who save their scores by chipping and putting for pars and bogeys. Other golfers are long and straight off the tee yet cannot fully capitalize on their distance because they are poor iron players and lack confidence on the greens. Older and more experienced players often maintain a low handicap simply by playing to their strengths, keeping the ball in play and not taking unnecessary risks.
Perfect Golf Swing Tips – Don’t Focus On Mastering Everything
the perfect golf swing
You do not have to master any particular part of the game to reach single figures, nor do you have to be hugely talented or possess a perfect golf swing. Think about how many times you three-putted during your last round of golf. You will immediately find three or four wasted strokes there. Now think about how many times you dropped shots through making the wrong decisions or you make a bogey or worse by under-clubbing.
Add the total together, and you will discover that, invariably, you are wasting around eight or nine shots per round. Eliminate those straight away and you are already halfway to playing off single figures – and that’s without doing anything extra in trying to achieve a perfect golf swing.
Golf Swing Tips #1 – Confidence
The importance of a positive state of mind. There is no greater commodity on the golf course than confidence – it beats a perfect golf swing every time! When everything is going well and you are in control of your game, you feel that there is nothing you cannot achieve. Unfortunately, these days are rarities for most amateur golfers.
One of the best golf swing tips for playing good golf is to get yourself into this confident frame of mind more often.
Golf Swing Tips #2 – Patience
The ability to grind out a score. Television commentators talk about a player ‘grinding out a score’. The player is not on top of his or her game, can’t find their perfect golf swing and is struggling to make things happen, but is still managing to compile a decent score – normally by making a lot of safe pars without threatening the hole for birdies.
The top professionals can turn a potentially mediocre round of 74 into a 70 simply by remaining cool and waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. At your own level, the ability to turn an 85 into an 80 is invaluable. Simply thinking sensibly is up there with the best golf swing tips, and will save you many strokes throughout the year.
Golf Swing Tips #3 – Awareness
Watch and learn. The best golfers are very observant on the golf course, from monitoring the strength and direction of the wind to checking out the positioning of hazards and potential danger areas.
Always watch how your playing partners’ shots behave once they land on the fairway or green so that you have as much information at your disposal as possible before you play each shot.
Golf Swing Tips #4 – Discipline
Resist the score-wrecking temptations. Self-discipline is one of your greatest allies on the golf course. Most golfers waste countless strokes through poor decision-making and through attempting to play over-ambitious recovery shots. Know your limitations as a golfer and never attempt shots that you know you cannot play.
Golf Swing Tips #5 – Self-Belief
If you do not have faith in your ability, nobody will. You will always struggle to become a single-figure golfer if you do not believe you are capable of becoming one. How many times have you posted a good round for 14 or 15 holes, then totted up your scorecard and discovered that if you could just play the remaining four holes in 4-over par, you would break 100, 90 or 80? Then what happens? Your game goes to pieces, you lose your focus and confidence and you end up ruining your score completely.
Avoid setting yourself limitations as that will impede your progress. Always go for the best score possible rather than aiming for certain targets, such as 90 or 80.
Golf Swing Tips #6 – Concentration
Think before you play. Concentration does not necessarily mean that you must become so wrapped up in your own thoughts on the golf course that you do not say a word to anyone during the round. It simply means that you should be focused when preparing for and playing each and every shot.
In between, you can do as you like, as long as you don’t lose your rhythm, but when it comes to the business of hitting the ball with that perfect golf swing, concentrate on that alone.
